Weekend festivities
Posted in QOTD on 08/01/2005 07:15 pm by enjanerdThursday – Went to see DC United vs. Chelsea. Pretty good game. Mindless wrote about it, so I’ll just leave you with his rendition First Knight buy Special Dead buy .
Friday – Hung out with the parents for a little while and practiced some cantonese. Headed home to clean a little and move more stuff out of my brother’s room. I have moved almost everything into my new room and just need to hook my computer back up now.
Highlight of the day: Ian made me dinner! Nice candle-lit dinner with a floral centerpiece filled with alstromeria. Dinner started off with a salad. Then we had jerk chicken with rice and fresh green beans with lemon juice and chopped walnuts. And for dessert, he made grasshopper pie. Sooo good!
Went out after dinner to go rent a copy of The Goonies… Found it at a local Blockbuster, where one of their employees was in an incredibly strange mood. He yelled at us, asking if we were done causing trouble. Then let me rent the movie under someone else’s name. Put in some coupon code to give us a free rental and when Ian and I turned around to confirm, he told us, “Don’t question the system! Go! Go!”
Also weird… Got back after that and Ian’s roommate had a friend over who looked familiar, but I couldn’t place where I knew him. And then I noticed that he was looking at me too, like he might have recognized me. It took like half an hour before I realized it, but we went to high school together and we used to be on the same bus too. (BFF: Joel. He asked how you were doing too and if we keep up with each other still.)
Saturday – Headed down to Winchester for Sonny’s parade
). Hung around and saw the bagpipers, all the emergency vehicles, then the soldiers. A bunch of politicians did their thing. Then, headed home to have some quiet family time.
Got a little bit of reading in before heading over to the HOY for presents and Sorry(TM). We tried out the alternative rules for Sorry and it was much more vicious and fast-paced. I don’t think anyone was actually sorry though.
Sunday – Had brunch with Ian’s family. Discussed Russian mail-order brides, real estate, and politics. Headed over with everyone after that to take a look at the condo Tremors II: Aftershocks movie
Took a nice lengthy nap in the afternoon and then made more hummus with Ian. Put in fresh garlic this time, which gave it a much stronger flavor. And I measured out the seasonings I put in, so I can figure out how much I want to get the spiciness that I like. Headed over to the parents’ place after that and had more family time.
Yay! Sonny’s home! :) -j.

QOTD: “You should make sure to get that checked out… If it’s cancer, it’s best to catch it early *pause* so you can have cancer longer. You know… because if you catch it late, you probably won’t have it for long before you die.”
“Don’t do public service announcements.”
