Forever Stamps
Posted in News/Info on 05/04/2006 06:32 am by enjanerdOoh this is a fantastic idea!
Postal officials pitched the idea of creating a “forever stamp” that would be good for sending first-class mail no matter how much — or how often — the cost of a postage stamp goes up.
They’ll benefit from the people who will stock up on stamps and then lose them and have to buy more. They’ll get more money in the short term from people who buy stamps and don’t use them up in the near future. And there are people who will still buy the regular stamps if they’re pretty and have collectible value to them. I have a couple sheets of $0.37 holiday cookie stamps just because I like cookies. I would buy regular valued stamps if they had more cookies on them.
