Mm… Global Warming…
Posted in LOTD, QOTD, Work on 08/04/2006 07:08 am by enjanerdSo, there’s a heatwave in effect. It’s over 100 degrees outside, but you’d never know it from looking around my office. My office is unbearably cold. So much so that I have a jacket at work and I have coworkers who leave their coats here throughout the summer. Most of them even have space heaters. I’ve seriously considered bringing my gloves in so I can at least keep typing. (And don’t think this is a girl thing. These are men in suits with jackets on. They should not have to have space heaters.)
I’ve taken to standing out in the hallway to warm up. I can’t actually go outside because that’s where all the smokers are, but the elevators and stairwells don’t get very good air circulation, so those are reasonably warm.
In any case, I gave in today. I finally asked one of my coworkers to help me tape off my vent
because I couldn’t reach it. As he was taping it off, there was a small space where the air was seeping through and it started whistling. Almost as bad, but still better than sitting in a 50 degree office. And now it’s really loud, like a static-y noise, but so much warmer. It’s probably almost 65 degrees in here now. I feel bad for all the energy they’re wasting, but at least now I don’t have to turn on a space heater.
