So far, I’ve been here for an hour and a half. They’ve been here for 4.5 hours. The frame is not yet in place. No door knob, storm door, or molding back on. I’m guessing they’ll be here until 4, at least. I’ll let you know how it goes.

After proposing the resurrection of the Lying Game, I realized that blogging everything exciting (as well as the boring) in my life for over 4 years, I didn’t have many cool stories I could embellish convincingly. I figured I had to have some good stories from college during my pre-blogging years, so I would just write about them when something came to me. Then Sonny was in town and Ian’s brother got married and I forgot about the game.

Anyway, thanks to Laura for playing and reminding me! And, well. I like to lie about stuff. So, here goes (2 lies and a truth):

1) I take my daily multi-vitamin drinking Vitamin Water(R).

I didn’t really know what to say yesterday, so I just didn’t say anything. I spent a good part of the day reading through all the 9-11 articles in the major newspapers. And I came across a blog entry that a friend of Ian’s wrote last year, on the 5th anniversary:

I received a very eloquent email through the VT alumni association with some uplifting words and a challenge to the Virginia Tech community to better the world in the form of community service. Aside from that, the day seemed to go along like any other.

Good news: My brand new shiny ruby red laptop got here!!! Went to Lost Dog with Ian, his bro & wife, and his cousin & fiance, so we were out pretty late. But I was able to install Firefox straight away, the stuff I need for class, and Matlab. You know, the essentials. Need to work out some kinks with MathCad 13 and Vista though. I’m still mad about that. I bought MathCad 13 for the spring semester and less than a month into the semester MathCad 14 came out and there’s no student upgrade. I have to pay $100+ for the new version or just stick with the current one.

Bad news? Sonny flew out today. :( He’s probably back in Mississippi by now and I’m not sure when he’s officially leaving the country. But we had some good family/friends time on Sunday. Hung out at the parents’ for about half the day watching the ‘Skins game. Then went over to Bungalow’s for about 6 hours to watch football, play pool, and play arcade golf. I think we all stayed a little later than we intended just to make the night last. But now that I think about it, we should’ve done something really boring. That would’ve made the evening drag on much longer than doing something fun. Like… a fantasy football draft by hand. ;) Hehe, just kidding.The Punisher hd

Insel acknowledged that it may be a while before physicians have tests that can reliably predict which patients are likely to become suicidal as a result of the drugs. In the interim, he said, “if I had a child with depression, I would go after the best treatment but also provide the closest monitoring.”

Sigh… Seriously? You need extensive studies and doctors to tell you to keep a close watch on your kids when they start taking anti-depressant medication? It’s sad that this happens and people commit suicide. But really. Use some common sense.

Just received an email saying that my laptop shipped today! Should be arriving next week some time.

Received my new copy of MatLab! Version R2007a. Hot.

Spent the evening at Boss’s place with the rest of my department. Burgers on the grill and fresh-baked cookies. Then we moved on to play some Wii games… Ian, NewGirl, and I warned everyone numerous times to tighten the wrist-strap before bowling because no one else had played before. This was followed promptly by SkunkNut hitting Boss’s leg with a Wiimote, throwing the Wiimote, chipping some paint off the ceiling, and just barely missing the TV. Oh, it was priceless.

Ahh…

Then, we ended up with an odd number of participants and Yahoo kicked us off.

So we did a “live” draft over IM. And I wasn’t really paying attention after the first few rounds. I mean, I wasn’t really paying attention at all, but I tried during the first few rounds at least. But, um, I ended up without a kicker. Oops.

So, that was 3 hours of my evening. Time for bed.
