I bought flowers last week and was adding water to the vase today and I couldn’t remember the name of them. I was standing there for what felt like 2 or 3 minutes trying to think of the name of my favorite flower. My favorite flower

Ooh, what a fun day! I ventured out today to spend the afternoon at the National Postal Museum. I had never been there before, but I’ve been really wanting to go for months now. I had forgotten that the Army 10 miler was this weekend though. And I happened to head out when a lot of people were heading over to the Redskins game too. So, I may have mistimed a little. But it all worked out.
They have these postcard machines and a special Postal Museum stamp on their metered mail. I had to wait a while to buy a page of Children’s Book Animals stamps because I was caught in line behind a stamp collector. Apparently he comes to the museum quarterly to get the stamps that he wants. He spent over $300 there. I left to go to the post office next door to get postcard stamps and came back and he was still there. It was pretty impressive.
The security guards there were incredibly friendly too. I don’t know if they were just bored today or what, but I was just wandering around reading things and 2 guards passed by and asked if I was finding everything alright. When I passed through to the post office and had to get my bag checked and wanded when I came back, the guard complimented my purse. Then, when I thanked him, he clarified that he doesn’t know much about purses or anything. But he can recognize nice things. Ok… I didn’t say anything. Thanks, man.

Just thought this story was kinda cool — Knowing Someone Cares Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning movie Class of 1999 film
Paulson, unknowingly, tapped into fears that many of us share: that in a busy, crammed-full life, no one remembers us; that our answering machines never flash because we simply don’t matter to anyone; that in an era when communication with others is easier than ever before, we are communicating less and less.
Oh, and finished last week, but forgot to blog about it: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Fantastic story of her life. My sister and I just joke about wearing curtains when we were little. Jeannette colored her legs with magic markers to fill in the spots where her pants had holes (sewing a patch on would be too noticeable). She and her siblings slept in boxes. Her parents snuck candy and booze while the kids rummaged in the trash for food. It’s heartbreaking, but she’s so well-adjusted about it and childlike in how she described normal events in her life that’s it’s funny simply because it didn’t happen to me.
