Seems like the only time I blog anymore is when I’m sitting at the airport. I don’t even have much to talk about.
More of the same at trials. Things went well. I’ve got a guy from our partner company bugging my company’s program manager to get me a tablet PC because he thinks it’s antiquated for me to be wandering around writing everything down on paper. And a tablet would be cool, so I’m not arguing. ;)
I got super-searched today when I went through security. I bought some cheese and jerky for presents (and a snack), which I guess when my bag got scanned, looked suspiciously like an explosive and fuses or something. And then my boots went through and they had to poke around those too. It’s a good thing I didn’t have a hard hat with me. Or something sharp.

At the airport. On my way back to Wisconsin.
It seems that the more I fly, the more surprised I am every time people don’t know what they’re doing when they go through security. I don’t know how that’s possible. You’d think I’d learn. You’d be so wrong.
The girl in front of me today took close to 5 minutes to take her shoes off and seemed incapable of moving while doing so. But I guess she wasn’t trying to… because after she got her shoes off, she just stood there and didn’t push her bins forward or move toward the x-ray machine. So I helped her out and pushed her things ahead.
She seemed confused. I tried to help her by using eye motions to indicate that she should also move forward and stand next to her things. That seemed to work.
Then the woman behind me was surprised that she couldn’t bring water through security. But she put it in the bin! They could x-ray it!
And I’m off.

I had a dream last night and I was reviewing my coworker’s work. And then I had to discuss my comments with our group VP. That was it. I wasted my precious sleep time working more.
I sat down at my desk to work and didn’t fall asleep, but lost about 10 minutes. Staring. At nothing. I think my brain is revolting against me.
I’m collaborating and getting along with coworkers. They were so nice to work with after some of the people I met a few weeks ago… and yet, something must have changed after all my rants. Is it reasonable to assume they’re not as incompetent as I thought they were? Have I successfully lowered my expectations to achievable levels? Am I getting dumber? Did I turn nice? The part that worries me is that I don’t even know which of these possibilities is more likely. I mean, it’s probably more likely that I go insane before I’m nice. But it’s not out of the realm of possibilities.
I was reading an agenda today that had an item extending from 23:30-24:30, then 24:30-25:00. And it took me at least 3 passes through reading those items to figure out why they looked wrong.

This is great publicity for this project, but I just think the headline sounds funny:

1) If you visit, even in the dead of summer, bring a jacket. It’s in the 60s today.
2) There are 3 things to do around here: 1. Tuesday night karaoke. 2. Thursday night (tonight!) wing night. 3. Saturday night karaoke.
3) Butter goes on everything. Hamburgers, sandwiches, bbq, salad… everything.
4) There are plenty of vegetables and, well, I won’t say “healthy,” but non-fried food options around here. Just not at the places Boss Jr took me to last week.
5) There are no Packers fans here. They’re all Favre fans. And now they’re Jets fans.

At the airport. Again.
Heading back up to Wisconsin. Apparently my boss is too important to allow him to leave the office, so instead of having him go up Mon-Wed and me on board Thurs-Fri, I’m going up now and will be on board Mon-Fri.
The two days home were good though. I got a lot of rest, had a nice date with Ian, did a big family shindig at my parents’ yesterday, and even got to catch up with some college friends for dim sum this morning.
I really wish my company had a designated person to make all our travel plans for us. I got my plane ticket Friday evening, I think I get the hotel room that was booked for my boss. I’m carpooling with another coworker from the airport and hopefully will be able to figure out how to get to the yard at 4am or whatever time I’m supposed to be there in the morning. Last I heard, there are no more rental cars available at the airport.
This week is going to be so exciting. Yeah, exciting. An adventure. That’s what this is…
