Lucy!
Posted in Life on 01/31/2010 11:08 am by enjanerdIan and I have been talking about adopting a dog for years now. We finally started visiting shelters last weekend and met Lucy yesterday through a Lost Dog Rescue adoption event at PetSmart.
She’s super sweet, but rambunctious. And still a bit of a puppy, so there are a lot of things for her to learn. But she’s clearly very smart, so I have high hopes. She’s been barking a lot when we go on walks, but likes people and other dogs so far. She’s also been spending a lot of time sniffing around our place and licking stuff, but hasn’t eaten anything she shouldn’t, so also good. The people at the shelter said she likes kids, but I think we better train her not to jump before letting her play with the nieces.

Awwwwww. So, “Lucy” from the movie “Wendy and Lucy,” or just so when you come home and she has chewed up your shoes you can yell “Lucy, you got some ‘splainin to do,” ’cause that would be cool.

Well, the website hadn’t been updated. She was 8 months when they got her. She’s just about a year old now, so should be close to full grown. Plus, I can totally lift her! :)
Lucy is the name she came with… though I’m concerned it might turn into the “Lucy, you got some ‘splainin to do” scenario.

I bet she does stay under 40lbs. She looks like 85% Australian cattle dog to me.Get her into Frisbee catching or Flyball early on and she’ll be all calmed down in the house.(translate that to mean – too tired to destroy anything). http://www.usdaa.com/se_flyball.cfm

*sniffles* She’s supposed to be under *25lbs.* We thought we could get away with 30 pounds, but Ian weighed her today and she’s already 31. :( Now we don’t know if we can keep her.
