Went over to visit the niece yesterday with part of the rest of the family. She’s doing well and is less scary to hold now that she has some control over her neck. The squishy head thing is still kind of weird.

I’ve had a couple rental cars this week while my car is getting fixed up. The first was a Monte Carlo, which was like driving a yacht down 395. *Awesome*. It had features like a display that would inform you when maintenance needed to be done. In the one that I got:
- Check right rear tire pressure.
- Check right front tire pressure.
- Check left front tire pressure.
- Engine oil low. 0 miles remaining.
- Washer fluid low.
- Fuel low.

Then, there was the exclamation mark light that came on on Thursday. I was hoping to get my car back on Friday, so I tried ignoring the warning signs. But that didn’t happen, so I went over to Enterprise and they swapped me out with a Cobalt. Soooo much better. Granted, this one has a strange noise coming from the right front tire when I drive. But Ian and I couldn’t see anything obviously wrong with it, so I’m, again, trying to ignore it and hoping the car doesn’t just fall apart.

While I miss having the car that I’m used to driving, I’ve realized this week that I have no attachment to my car. I’m jealous of people who love their cars. People who have trouble giving up their cars, even with the option of a shiny, new car. People who need

I want a cute, little car. I get decent mileage in my car, but it’s larger than I need, while being less functional than it could be. The back seats fold down, but there are [structural, I assume] obstructions that prevent large objects from fitting between the trunk and back seat. Kind of defeats the purpose of having the seats fold down. It’s enough space for me to climb through into the trunk and climb out in an emergency though.

I’ve been using Arm & Hammer liquid detergent for the past year or two and I recently discovered their perfume and dye free Palo Pinto Gold dvdrip variety. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical, but it cost the same as the regular kind, so I picked up a bottle to try.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had eczema and go around scratching my arms and legs. Looking back at the past few weeks, I haven’t been as itchy and my skin is looking noticeably better. I’m pretty sure washing my clothes in this detergent made all the difference. Next, I’m going to try washing my sheets and towels with it. I have high hopes!

The weirdest thing about this stuff? It’s clear. I don’t think I’ve ever seen clear detergent before. I usually go for that mountain or spring fresh scent and those are blue or green. Maybe I’m allergic to mountains. I’m definitely allergic to spring. Hm… Maybe I shouldn’t be picking scents I’m allergic to…

Brunch was so good. We went to Oriental East and somehow fit 14 of us around a table. It’s all the way in Maryland, but was the best dim-sum I’ve had in this area, so I might have to go back at some point.

After that, Ian and I went over to Mary and Adam’s place to help them get rid of some stuff before they move. And by get rid of, I mean they let us walk around and take whatever we wanted. ;) Picked up a few lamps, vases, bottles of booze, and their pretty set of Crate & Barrel bowls.

From there we went to the scotch tasting, which included handouts, home-made sushi with yellow tomatoes grown expressly for this party, and home-made shortbread cookies. After that, there was the karaoke jam turned Taboo party. There was a bit of drama after we arrived, but things settled down a little later.

Yesterday, the sibs came over for some will-writing. We discussed our stuff, had some pizza, and then began a preliminary list of our relatives for wedding purposes. Turns out renting a tent and generator comes out to about $1k. That on top of finding a location and having to rent chairs, tables, etc. We’ll see how it goes…
