Ooh, what an exciting week this has been! :) Squidgey was in town last weekend. Unfortunately, it was a sad occasion, but we still got a chance to hang out. She, my sister, Ian, and I got together for lunch at Coastal Flats and learned all about how Omaha has no Chinese delivery restaurants. So, for all you entrepreneurs out there, polish up your heavy Asian accents. We’re going to take over!

Yesterday, I slipped out of work a little early to hang out with Eepie! She flew in from Peru and shortly after that, with her 55 pound suitcase in tow, arrived at the metro near my office and we hung out for the afternoon. Showed her around my place and we caught up for a bit before the call of Animal Crossing overcame us. I finally visited her town and we did our best to catch the new summer fish, pulled each other’s weeds, and got rid of our native fruit. Very productive trip.

Fast forward a couple hours and Ian got home from work. We all hung out until Eepie’s boy got out of work and through traffic. Then, we met him at a nearby Thai place for dinner. Dinner was good, then we made a brief trip over to Dairy Queen before calling it a night so the tipsy (from 3 sips of her boy’s drink, of course) Eepie could get to bed.

Back on the exercise bandwagon… Started on Monday and went again today. Just went down to the exercise room and ran on the treadmill. First day took the full half hour (including 5 min warmup) to get to the 2-mile mark. Today, It only took 25 minutes, including a 3-minute warmup. Woo! Yeah, this entry is boring. Whatever. And then I came home and played wifi tetris. It was awesome.

Seven Years in Tibet movie

Had a fun evening Saturday night out with Ian, SPJ, DW, and DW’s girl. Went out to Lost Dog, then came back to Ian and my place to watch Garden State. Second time I’ve seen it, but first for SPJ and DW’s girl. Liked it just as much as the first time I saw it. :)

After that, we sat around and played Tetris on our DSs. SPJ was the only one who actually owned the game, but DW and I both had our Nintendos with us, so we downloaded the demo version and we played the multi-player game. It’s fantastic! Turns out when you have more than two players, all the eliminated rows get sent to the person in last place. So I guess if you have a lot of people playing, it just helps everyone gang up and pick people off one by one.

I had so much fun playing that I finally got around to buying it for myself yesterday. It’s terrific! So many different games. So much fun.

Other than playing Tetris, I went over to the parents’ on Sunday with Ian, my cousin, and her new husband. Sonny was also over there. Nice, entertaining lunch with sooo much food. Took a quick trip over to Costco with Ian after that and picked up supplies for the next month or so. Then, headed home for a breather before heading over to Ian’s parents’ for Sunday dinner. I think I need to start planning to visit my parents on Saturdays again. That’s just too much food in one day to keep this up.

What a weekend!

Friday started out with a very short day at work. Got out just after hearing back from my realtor reporting back that the former owner of the condo just bought a new place and can’t pay for all the things they left wrong with my place. Not so much can’t as “don’t want to.” So, I sent her back to fight it out with their realtor because they have messed with me way too long. And I still don’t like their realtor.

Picked up Ian and stopped by the ‘rents to have lunch and hang out with them and Sonny. Headed over to Costco to stock up on food for Saturday, then spent the rest of the afternoon/evening cleaning and preparing.

Saturday, got up early for the festivities. Finished preparing some BBQ chicken and answered a handful of phone calls from family double-checking details for the day. First party: family. We had my immediate family and local relatives, Ian’s immediate family, BFF, Jackee, and Sonny’s future roommate. Turns out we have enough seating for about 25 people. It was exceptionally loud, but seemed like everyone had fun. There was a rowdy game of Taboo, cake for my cousin’s 18th birthday (she’s a new yeary’s baby), and a nice mix of people and conversation.

As the gathering started to dwindle and things started to calm down, we began preparations for our New Year’s Eve soiree. Siblings, cousins, and friends all came to hang out. Gave a dozen tours of the condo, saw a handful of people I haven’t seen in ages, and caught up on some gossip. There was a game of Celebrity, lots of food and drink, and some enthusiastic ADD karaoke. I got some nice quantity time in with my cousin attempting to cut out Jell-O jigglers, which didn’t turn out so well. We still had fun though and got to look through all 100 of the cookie cutters Sonny got me for Christmas.

The party started to thin out around 2am and went to bed a little over an hour later after the boys had their fill of video games and I got caught up on the Animal Crossing new year’s celebration.

Got up bright and early the next morning to meet up with TLD for brunch. Went over to Fireflies in Alexandria, where TLD, Steph, Aaron, and Sonny were already waiting for us. Saw News Channel 7′s Doug McKelway

playing banjo with his bluegrass band there. Spent most of the rest of the day sleeping, cleaning, and watching football.

Today, slept in, went to home depot, watched the Hokies win (even though Marcus did play a little dirty), then did family dinner night with Ian and his parents. And finished cleaning up too, so now I can move on to returning all the stuff I borrowed for the parties.

Alright… almost time for bed. Just need to take care of my town first. :) -j.
